The government’s guidance on social distancing has meant that it is not possible to hold parish council meetings in Sancroft Hall. There has been a temporary suspension of all council meetings and the postponement of the Annual Parish Meeting.
Section 78 of the Coronavirus Act 2020 gives local authorities (including parish councils) the power to hold meetings without councillors or members of the public being together in the same place.
Therefore, for the foreseeable future, council meetings will be virtual meetings, using Zoom. The system is straight forward for members of the public to use, as well as councillors. The Zoom-access page provides useful information on Zooming. You will be able to see how the meetings will be run. Just click on this link to find it.
During meetings the councillors can be seen and heard by members of the public, and recordings can be made of them. Members of the public will be muted unless they are asked to participate by the Chair of the meeting. Normally, this will be during the public forum sessions. Procedures for the meeting will otherwise remain the same.
